As salamu alaykum. We are deeply grateful for your generous donations. I pray that Allah rewards you all abundantly. We're also excited to share that the University of Leicester has contributed £4,000 towards our iftars. Your generous support and duʿāʾ will, in shaa Allah, make this Ramadan a truly blessed one. May Allah accept our good deeds.

We are immensely grateful to Bru for their generous donation of £1,100 as a Silver sponsor. May Allah increase their blessings and grant them abundant reward. Do check out their Leicester branches on Granby Street and The Parade here and show them your support.

We had to reduce the number of days we host iftar to 3 days for the w/c 25th March. But, alhamdulillah, we have just received a large donation which will allow us to continue iftar for the all the weekdays of Ramadan in April. We also received £923 in grant funding from the Students' Union. May Allah accept and reward the generosity of the donors.

Eid Mubarak! We hope you all had a wonderful day. This fundraiser will soon be closed and the rest will be covered using general Islamic Society funds. For now, we are still taking donations. Any money exceeding the total will go towards next year's Ramadan fundraiser. A heartfelt thanks to all of our volunteers, donors, the university and the Students' Union whose time and efforts ensured we broke our fasts and prayed together with the community spirit of Ramaḍan. Please remember us all in your duas.

CONTRIBUTE TO A BLESSED RAMADAN EFFORT
The University of Leicester Islamic Society's iftar gatherings have become a cornerstone of Ramadan for our Muslim students. This year, we're expanding to welcome over 200 fasting students each weekday during March. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing demand and ensure more students can find comfort and community during Ramadan, especially those far from home and managing academic pressures.
However, this growth comes at a time when the university has withdrawn the usual funding for our project, placing the sustainability of our iftar initiative in the hands of our generous community. Alhamdulillah, the Students' Union may provide some grants. But, with the overall cost for the month projected at £19,000, the need for your generous donations is more pressing than ever.
MULTIPLY YOUR REWARDS THIS RAMADAN
Sponsor a meal: Just £5 can provide one student their iftar meal. £100 can feed 20 students. Your contribution is a valuable sadaqah that will, in shaa Allah, bring immense rewards in this life and the hereafter.
Collective effort: Our goal of £19,000 might sound a lot, but each donation, big or small, will help us get there. Tell people about what we're doing and spread the word. Every bit of effort counts and brings its own rewards.
Volunteer: Got some time? We'd love to have our fellow students join us in preparing and sharing meals, setting up the prayers, tarawih and more on campus. Keep an eye out on our Instagram @ulisoc for more information.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.”
ESTIMATED COSTS (old)
Catering quote from Rafiq Catering: £5 per person.
March attendance: 242 students interested, expected attendance we order for is 200 (following comparisons to last year's interest vs. attendance)
April attendance: 152 students interested, we order for 110.
March has 15 weekdays in Ramadan; April has 7 weekdays.
Total cost calculation:
March: 200 people * 15 days * £5 = £15,000.
April: 110 people * 7 days * £5 = £3,850.
Total cost: £15,000 (March) + £3,850 (April) = £18,850.
Additional minimal spending for cutlery, crockery, mats etc. is expected.
